CECC confirms 97 more COVID-19 cases, including 2 domestic cases and 95 imported cases
Date:2022-03-23On March 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 97 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 97 new cases, two are domestic and 95 are imported (64 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.
The new domestic cases are two women in their teens and 40s, respectively.
Regarding the 95 new imported cases, 46 are male and 47 are female while the gender of the other two cases is being investigated. They range in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, 34 arrived from Vietnam, five from the Philippines, three each from the Netherlands, Australia, Thailand and Korea, two each from Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, the US, Singapore, and one each from Romania, the UK, Italy, Canada, Indonesia, Paraguay and Poland; the areas the remaining 27 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 22 and March 22, 2022.
The CECC reported that a total of 6,794,228 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,771,704. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 22,188 cases. Of the 22,188 confirmed cases, 6,614 are imported; 15,520 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases’ sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 135 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
